Hello little sailors!
Since I have an upcoming wedding I am trying to take better care of my skin and am always searching for new ideas! Today’s entry is about an interesting alternative beauty product. Curcuma – also known as turmeric! While often used in cooking, this spice is also used for its medicinal value.
I’ve read and heard that it should even be good for your skin and I wanted to know for myself. Does it really help? This is why I made myself a curcuma face mask this weekend. I have to say that my skin does feel better already. But you probably want to know more about its powers first…
Here are the beauty benefits of curcuma!
Generally, curcuma is known to be antioxidant, antibacterial and antimicrobial. It helps you with inflammatory skin conditions, such as dry skin, psoriasis, acne and eczema. Moreover it is proven to help pigmentation and it can reduce swellings and irritations.
Not only does this spice have unbelievable healing impacts on the inside of your body, but it’s also a great beauty product, isn’t that awesome? Through my research I found out that Indian brides have long used curcuma as a head-to-toe body scrub before their wedding, so they’ll look especially beautiful with bright, glowing skin for their future husbands.
What a great alternative to conventional beauty products!
A Mask for Sunday
**Curcuma may stain your skin and clothes yellow, so be careful when preparing your mask.**
This is definitely a mask for a relaxed Sunday when you’re not planning to go out anymore since it could stain your skin a little bit. That’s why I strongly recommend taking care with this mask and only use a thin layer! The more you pile on the greater your chance is to stain your face yellow! I also recommended that you not leave this mask on for longer than 15 minutes. If you don’t want stained hands you can use gloves. It comes off easily with a nice scrub or facial tissues.
DIY Cucurma Face Mask
1 Tablespoon grounded curcuma
1 Tablespoon native coconut oil
First: Warm up the oil until it’s liquid.
Second: Then mix both ingredients.
Now you can apply the mask to your face in a thin layer. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes and wash it off!
Be patient and thorough when washing. Don’t panic if you have to wash your face twice to get off all the yellow.
This mask is really worth trying! My skin feels so nice already. 🙂
Have fun with this and tell me how your skin feels! I am planning to use this mask regularly now. I’m curious to see its impact on my skin.
Have a wonderful Sunday!
Farewell little sailors,
